I appreciate all the details you’ve provided to troubleshoot the issue. As you’ve mentioned, when you disable the 'Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller' in the device manager, the CPU usage drops to normal. We may try uninstalling and re-installing the Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller and update the driver to its latest version. To uninstall this device, you may try following the steps mentioned below.
Usb Host Controller Driver Download
- Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
- Click System and Maintenance, click System, and then click Device Manager.
Note: If Control Panel is in Classic View, double-click System, and then click Device Manager.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
- In Device Manager, double click to expand 'Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller', right click on the Host Controller, click 'Uninstall' and click 'OK'.
Check if at all there is an exclamation mark along the driver, it suggests issues with the driver installed.
- Repeat the above step to uninstall all items under 'Universal Serial Bus controllers'.
Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will reinstall all USB controllers automatically.
If the computer is not able to install the drivers automatically, or if the problem still persists after the automatic installation of drivers, you try downloading and running the ASUS Update V7.17.17 for Windows XP 32bit/XP 64bit/Vista 32bit/Vista 64bit/7 32bit/7 64bit on your computer.
