Hewlett Packard's Compaq computers and laptops give users the option of burning a set of system boot discs. If your hard drive fails or your system becomes infected by malware, you can use the recovery discs to restore your computer to its factory condition. The operating system is reinstalled, along with the software and drivers that originally shipped on the Compaq. Because the recovery discs are different for each model number, you must create them directly from the HP Recovery Manager program on your Compaq.

1.Click the 'Start' button, type “Recovery Manager” in the search box and press “Enter” to launch the Recovery Manager.
2.Click “Recovery Media Creation” or “Recovery Disc Creation.” The wording may vary, depending on your Compaq model.
3.Click “Next” at the “Welcome Recovery Disc Creation” screen. If you instead see a “Welcome to Recover Media Creation” screen, click “Create recovery media using blank DVD(s),” and then click “Next.”

4.Review the number of DVDs required for creating the recovery discs and confirm that you have sufficient media on hand.
5.Insert a blank DVD in your disc burner and click “Next.” Download google play games for pc.
6.Wait for the first disc to be created. Remove it from the burner when prompted.
7.Insert the next disc and click the “Next” button.

Tips
- For best results, disconnect from the Internet, close all other programs and disable the Windows User Account Control.
- Label your recovery discs by number to prevent confusion during recovery.
- You can only create one set of recovery discs. If you need additional discs, you must contact HP Compaq support.

Thanx for the reply. It looked promising, but didn't work :-( I've even formatted the Windows partition and deleted the 'System Volume Information' folder but now all I get when I boot up and press [F11] I get an error from 'Windows Boot Manager' that Windows failed to start - well obviously it did that cos it's not there !!!!!! Status: 0xc000000f - The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.

It turns out that the guy who reinstalled Windows (Windows 7 Ultimate was used) was the I.T. at the laptop owners work - he no longer works there !!!!!!!!!
