Oh my god, a cliffhanger? Again??? Dammit, I think Miura already has all the answers and the ending for the story and even the elaborate art but he just enjoys torturing his readers. Isn't he just one of the Apostles???

This is the 39th volume in the Berserk series. I really feel like the last few volumes of the Berserk series have been unfocused and kind of slow, however this volume changes that. This was the best Berserk volume in a long time and I really enjoyed it.

Readers need to understand that this series isn't solely about Guts vs Griffith, and you can't expect a gory fight scene between the two in every other chapter. I noticed that Miura has chosen to focus a lot on world-building in the last few volumes and frankly speaking, he's doing an amazing job. I loved reading about the elves and magic (and who would've guessed we'd get merrows, too?) New characters? Plot twists? Character development for people other than the main protagonist? GIVE ME THAT....more
The Fantasia arc catches a lot of flack for feeling different from the rest of the series, but I've enjoyed it a lot. The digital art really comes into its own here, looking very natural in print (funnily enough). The shift in art style suits the more fantastical and peaceful tone of this book. Guts has finally at his best again, being able to open up to others about his thoughts and feelings. The last time he was this reflective about himself was probably when he decided to stay with Casca, and...more

It feels like I've waited 20 years for this storyline to start. It's pretty good. The art is amazing too! So many things going on in each scene. A lot of detail and background.

I didn't care for most of this, but I loved the dream stuff near the end.
At this point, I feel like Guts has kinda taken a backseat so the ten or so characters he's travelling with can get a larger focus. I don't have a problem with this in theory, especially since my favorite chapters of Berserk are probably the ones that tell the backstory of Lady Farnese, but I just don't care for some of these characters (like the mermaid girl and the sailors) because they're two dimensional and so much les...more

Miura and his team keep on surprising me and producing an excellent manga.
This tankobon isn't very action orientated as opposed to the previous ones, but summarizes neatly the growth of the characters.
And Guts being Guts, dread remains so close to the surface but he has goal and is ready to face his biggest fear... (did I mention growth?)
The humorous passages are weirdly fitting, some important aspects to Guts' universe are reveiled but the truly great part are the final chapters.

If this was the first volume of Berserk you ever stumbled upon, you could be forgiven for thinking it was a whimsical fantasy adventure and not one of the most graphically disturbing series I've ever read. There are no dismemberments and no horrifying character deaths. Guts and Pals seem to have finally found respite in the Elf Kingdom, which will make it all the more devastating when the other shoe drops. But, for now, I can enjoy it along with them. El mundo de los elfos es hermoso, Miura realmente se lució. Pero, ya no me quedan más tomos que leer y aún Caska no se ha recuperado; quería al menos terminar este tomo con algo más, sabiendo eso.

Well, as usual the art's great and the story in the book is interesting. Literally putting Casca's mind back together again is a cool idea. Although I could do without the valuable page space being dedicated to flashbacks however I do know it's probably a necessity at this point due to shear length. It is definitely not a starting point if you are not already reading the series. I did like it but I am getting a little antsy for some meaningful conclusions here.

This was a amazing volume where we finally get to see them trying to fix Casca and the dream world looked pretty cool and while the symbolizing was obvious but it still made sense and made sense to. Also glad that Shierke and Farnese are given the spot light and probably will for the next volume also nice that we get some good development for Casca.

It's good. Beautiful art, and a touching story continuation for Berserk fans. Seems saccharine at first and frankly is, however we're reminded of where this story is going and what world we're in at the end of the day.

Although not published in tankobon format yet, I did read the collected 8 chapters (343-351) that have been fan-translated.
The series is still excellent with some new characters introduced, it's just a shame that so much has happened recently and little-to-none of it has been explored. One can only hope that it gets off hiatus more often.

Berserk is an auti-five stars :p it's a masterpiece, VERY happy it's still alive and active with anime and new book coming out soon (check it if you guys don't know YES a berserk NOVEL about the red dragon knight on griffith's team).
